Chapter 22
Forums and live components
On this page
Two more ways to work together in a room: forums collect questions, ideas and support requests as posts with a title, each with its own replies – instead of a flowing chat. Live components put a checklist, a small table or a poll into a chat message that everybody edits together, live.
Forums#
Creating a forum#
A forum is a room type and a room module. Create a room of the type Forum (German UI: Forum), or switch on the module Forum in the room settings under Content of an existing room – the room then gets the tab Forum next to the chat.
Writing a post#
Click New post (Neuer Beitrag). A post has a title, optional tags and a text written with the normal chat input field – mentions, emoji (including the custom emojis of the space) and attachments work as in the chat. If creating a new post fails, your text stays.
While you type, Coviqo checks whether the forum already has a post about the same question. Under Similar posts already exist (Ähnliche Beiträge existieren bereits) you see up to five posts; a click opens one – perhaps the answer is already there. When the plan includes AI summaries and the space allows them, the list is chosen by the AI and marked as AI-generated; otherwise Coviqo compares the words of titles, texts and replies. Only posts you are allowed to read are considered.
Reading, filtering and following#
The forum lists the posts with title, tags, author, number of replies and reactions. Pinned posts are always at the top. You can
- sort by Newest activity, Newest posts or Most reactions,
- filter by status (All posts, Open, Solved) and by a tag,
- show only posts you follow (Followed),
- search the forum (titles, texts and replies).
A post opens with its text on top, the replies below and an input field for your reply. The author follows a post automatically; so does everybody who replies or is mentioned. Follow forum (Forum folgen) sends you a notification for every new post of the forum.
The AI short summary of long discussions (Summarise) works as in chat threads.
Solved posts and accepted answers#
The author of a post and the forum moderators can mark a post solved (Als gelöst markieren) and pick the reply that solved it: in the menu of a reply choose Mark as answer (Als Lösung markieren). The accepted answer is shown at the top of the post and marked Answer; its author and the people following the post get a notification.
Moderating a forum#
People with the permission Manage forums (Foren verwalten – moderators and managers by default) can
- manage tags (Tags & settings – name, colour, emoji, Moderators only for tags like "Announcement"),
- require a tag on every post and choose the default sort order,
- mark any post solved, pin posts and lock posts – a locked post takes no more replies (moderators can still answer).
Deleting a post removes its title and text; if it already has replies, the discussion stays visible as Deleted post.
Live components in chat messages#
Available from Community Pro.
In the chat input field, the button Insert live component (Live-Komponente einfügen; on phones in the + menu) creates a message with
- a checklist – items to tick off,
- a table – a small grid with up to 12 columns,
- a poll – a question with 2 to 20 answers, optionally with several answers per person.
Everybody in the room who may write edits the component directly in the message: tick items, change texts, add rows and columns. Changes appear for everybody immediately; small coloured dots and avatars show who is editing at the moment. Below the component you see who edited it last. External guests and people who may only read see the component without editing it.
In the … menu of a component:
- Export as CSV / Export as Markdown downloads the content (polls with the number of votes).
- History shows who changed the component when.
- Turn into tasks (checklists) creates one task per selected item in the room's task board; the item then links to its task.
- Only I and moderators edit locks the component for everybody else (the author and moderators can undo it).
Votes of a poll are counted per person; everybody sees the number of votes per answer, not who voted for what. The plan limits the items of a checklist and the rows of a table (Community Pro 50, Business 200, Enterprise 500). After a downgrade to a plan without live components, existing components stay readable.
