Chapter 45
Ask the space
On this page
Instead of searching through chats, meeting summaries and the decision log yourself, you can ask a question in plain language – for example "What did we decide about the budget?" or "Who takes care of the invoices?". Coviqo's AI answers in a few sentences and names the sources for every sentence, so you can check them with one click.
The AI only uses content you are allowed to see. It runs on Coviqo's own servers in the EU; your question and the content found are never sent to a third-party AI service.
Where to ask#
| Where | What is searched |
|---|---|
| The sparkles button next to a space in the sidebar (appears when you point at the space; always visible on touch screens) | the whole space |
| Ctrl K (⌘K on a Mac) inside a space: Ask the space, or type your question and choose Ask the space: "…" | the whole space |
| The sparkles button in a room's header: Ask this room (on phones in the … menu) | this room |
| Ask this meeting on a meeting page | this meeting – for a series, all its occurrences |
What the answer is based on#
Coviqo looks at messages and thread replies, forum posts, meeting summaries and transcripts, decisions, tasks, notes, agenda items and file names. Two things are never searched:
- End-to-end encrypted rooms and direct messages – the server cannot and does not read them. The panel reminds you with the badge Encrypted rooms are not searched.
- Content you can't open yourself, for example private rooms you are not a member of or meeting transcripts that only participants may read.
Reading the answer#
Every sentence ends with small numbers. Click a number to highlight its source below the answer. Each source card shows the type (message, decision, meeting summary …), the room, the author, the date and the passage the AI read. Open takes you directly to the message, note, task, decision or meeting.
If Coviqo finds nothing that answers your question, it says I found nothing about this. Try other words or ask more precisely. The AI does not guess: sentences without a source, and sentences with numbers that don't appear in their sources, are removed before you see the answer.
You can ask follow-up questions in the same conversation, for example "And who is responsible?". New conversation starts over.
Note
The conversation is only kept for one hour after your last question and then deleted. Nobody else can see it.
Feedback and saving#
- Was this helpful? Click the thumbs up or down. Coviqo only counts the click – your question and the answer are not stored with it.
- Save as note stores the answer with its list of sources as a note. In a room conversation it goes into that room; otherwise you choose the room. If the answer is based on content from other rooms, Coviqo asks you to confirm, because people reading the note may not be allowed to see those sources. Answers can't be saved into encrypted rooms.
When "Ask the space" is not available#
The panel tells you why:
| Message | Reason |
|---|---|
| Not included in this plan | "Ask the space" is part of Community Pro, Business and Enterprise. |
| Switched off in this space | A space admin switched it off under Space settings › AI, or AI summaries are off. |
| Used up for today | Each plan has a number of questions per person and day. |
| Not available for guests | Guests of a space can't ask the AI. |
| Encrypted room | Encrypted rooms are never processed on the server. |
Space admins switch the feature on or off under Space settings › AI › "Ask the space".
