Chapter 15
Find players (Mitspieler finden)
Find players is a list of open sessions (Runden) across all communities that take part. Leaders of a session in a lobby publish it with the game, mode, rank, language and platform; anybody on Coviqo can find it, ask to join and – once the leader accepts – join the session's voice room as a guest. It works like a "looking for group" board, but the voice room is right there.
You open it with Find players in the navigation.
Finding a session#
Filter by game (Coviqo suggests titles while you type), mode, language, region, platform, No mic and Now / Today. Each card shows the game, mode, rank, language, platforms, whether a microphone is needed, how many people are in the session and how many more are wanted, when it starts ("now" or a time), the community and the leader.
Click Ask to join. The leader gets your request right away. You see Requested – withdraw until they decide; a click withdraws the request. Requests nobody answers expire after 30 minutes.
When the leader accepts, you get a notification and the button Accepted – go to session. If you are not a member of that community, you get a guest pass: you can join exactly this session's voice room (and its chat) for up to 6 hours. You do not see the community's other rooms. When the pass ends or the session is over, the guest access ends automatically.
To prevent spam you can have at most 5 open requests at a time and send at most 20 per hour. A declined request cannot be sent again for the same session. Communities may have join requirements (for example a minimum account age or a bot check) – they apply to requests too.
Publishing your session#
You need to be the leader of a session in a lobby, and the community must have switched on Sessions publicly discoverable (see below).
- In Find players, click Publish a session – or use Publish in the session header.
- Enter the game – while you type, Coviqo suggests the game you are playing right now, the games your community already used and well-known multiplayer games (arrow keys and
Enterpick one; any other name works too, and a known game is stored in its usual spelling) –, and optionally mode and rank (for example "Gold–Platinum" or "casual"), pick the language, region and platforms, whether a microphone is needed, how many more players you want and whether you start now or later. - Click Publish.
While the session is published and has room, it shows Looking for players in its lobby and in its header (see Lobbies and sessions).
Under Mine you see your published sessions with their requests. Accept lets the person in, Decline turns them down. You can Edit or Unpublish the listing at any time; it disappears automatically when the session ends. Sessions with the access Invite only cannot be published.
For community admins#
In Space settings › Public profile & directory › Directory, next to the space directory settings, you find Find players (owners and admins with Manage space):
- Sessions publicly discoverable – off by default. Only when it is on can leaders publish their sessions. The community must allow guests, because people from outside join with a guest pass. Switching it off removes all listings of the community at once.
- Community is 18+ – listings are only shown to people who turned on 18+ communities and confirmed they are of age.
The community's raid protection applies: while joins are paused, no session can be published and nobody can be let in. The AutoMod word filter also applies to the game, mode and rank of listings.
Safety#
- Report a listing from its menu (More actions). The report goes to the community's moderators and to Coviqo's Trust & Safety team.
- Block the leader from the menu – you will no longer see their sessions, and they cannot see your requests.
- Communities marked 18+ are hidden unless you open 18+ setting on the page, turn on Show 18+ communities in “Find players” and confirm that you are an adult.
- Only public information about the session is shown: the leader appears with the name and picture they use in that community; members and chats stay private.
- Your requests, the sessions you published, your guest passes and your 18+ setting are part of your personal data export (Settings › Account & security › Export my data, file
lfg.json). Answered requests are deleted after 7 days.
