Why Coviqo

Made in Luxembourg: a collaboration platform from Luxembourg

Coviqo is developed and operated in Luxembourg and runs on servers in the EU. This page explains what that means in practice – which law applies, who supervises us, and where your data actually lives.

Why Luxembourg

Luxembourg is where Coviqo is built and run. The country is a founding member of the European Communities and home to several EU institutions – among them the Court of Justice of the EU, whose rulings such as Schrems II shape European data protection.

Luxembourg is also multilingual: Luxembourgish, French and German are used side by side every day. Coviqo is built for that kind of setting – the app is available in 23 EU languages, including French and German.

Which law applies

You can lodge a complaint with the CNPD or with the data protection authority in your own country. Requests from authorities for your data are assessed under EU and Luxembourg law. The details are in the privacy policy and the terms.

This page describes our own set-up and is not legal advice.

Hosted in the EU: servers in Germany

"Made in Luxembourg" describes where Coviqo is developed and operated. The platform itself runs in data centres in Germany – we do not run servers in Luxembourg.

  • Web app, API, database, real-time services and the media servers for calls run in Germany.
  • Files and recordings are stored on the same EU infrastructure, encrypted per space.
  • Backups are kept in the EU for no more than 12 months.
  • Transcription, translation and AI summaries run on our own servers.

What leaves the EU

Some data is processed by companies based outside the EU or with a parent company outside the EU: network protection and CDN in front of the website and app, payments for paid plans, and – only if you choose them – external sign-in providers and integrations.

Which companies these are, what they process and on which legal basis is listed on Why a European collaboration platform, together with all subprocessors. What you get in the app is on Why Coviqo.
