Quality you choose
- Text & presentations – crisp text, up to 15 frames per second, little bandwidth.
- Video & games – keeps the frame rate fluid.
- Resolution and frame rate from 720p · 30 fps to 1440p · 60 fps or 4K · 30 fps.
The Free plan shares up to 1080p · 30 fps; Community Pro, Business and Enterprise up to 4K · 30 fps or 1440p · 60 fps. Viewers with a weak connection automatically get a lighter version, so one slow line does not make the share stutter for everyone.
Native capture in the Windows desktop app
The desktop app for Windows captures the screen with its own native capture, built for games and full-screen programs:
- Uses the hardware video encoder of your graphics card (NVIDIA, AMD or Intel), so your computer and your game are barely slowed down.
- Keeps its frame rate while a game has the focus and repeats the last picture so viewers see a steady share.
- Adapts to your upload step by step and sends an extra 720p layer for slow viewers.
- Shares in AV1 on graphics cards with an AV1 encoder, when every viewer can play it – otherwise H.264.
- Shares the sound of a single window only (Windows 11) or of the whole computer.
Native capture, window-only sound and the priority settings exist only in the desktop app for Windows. In the browser, the browser’s own dialog decides what is shared and whether sound comes along. Screen sharing is not available in mobile browsers.
Watching a share
In voice rooms you decide what you watch: a share shows a small preview with Watch, and nothing is sent to you until you click. Open a share full screen or in its own window – in the desktop app on another monitor, up to four at once. Low latency shows the picture without buffering.
Working on the shared screen
- Drawing – pen, arrow, laser pointer and text on the shared screen (from Community Pro). Drawings are never stored.
- Presentation mode – your camera inside the share, like a TV presenter (from Community Pro).
- Remote control – use your mouse and keyboard on a colleague’s screen after they allow it (Business; the shared screen must come from the Windows desktop app).
When something stutters
Connection info in the call shows resolution, frame rate, bitrate, codec, encoder and what limits the quality – processor or bandwidth – with hints on what to try. High resolutions need a good upload: about 10 Mbit/s for 1080p · 60 fps and 16 Mbit/s for 1440p · 60 fps or 4K.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need the desktop app to share my screen?
No. Screen sharing works in current desktop browsers. The Windows desktop app adds native capture with the graphics card’s encoder, window-only sound and steadier frame rates in games.
Can I share in 60 frames per second?
Yes, in Community Pro, Business and Enterprise spaces: 1080p or 1440p at 60 fps. The Free plan shares up to 1080p at 30 fps.
Can I share the sound of a game only?
In the Windows desktop app, yes: when you share a window you can send only that program’s sound (Windows 11; on Windows 10 the whole computer’s sound is shared).
Can I share from my phone?
No. Screen sharing is not available in mobile browsers. You can watch shares on your phone.
